O n December 30, 2021, Virginia A. Smiley departed this life in Jackson North Medical Hospital and was received by God. 2nd Corinthians 5:8 Is to be absent from the body and be present with the Lord.

Virginia A. Smiley was born in Miami Florida and graduated from the New York City School System.  She retired from    Bethune Head Start in Miami, Florida. Virginia received Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Jesus People Ministries. She had a wonderful combination, warmth, kind, love, and plenty of laughter. She touched the hearts and souls of everyone that met her. She loved to dance whenever music is played. Virginia just was plain old fun. Her love and willingness to serve will be greatly missed. She was married to the late Mr. Leroy Smiley.

Smiley leaves to mourn children: Joann Spain (Rochell), Gary Ferguson (Rhonda), Beverly Barnes (Robert), and Lynn Fluellen; brother: James Rutherford (Joyce); niece: Jean Darby, Jana Rutherford; nephews: Chad Thomas, Neville Minnis (Chantelle), Jeffery and Jerome Rutherford;Grandchildren: Keenan Woods, April and Adonna Ferguson, John Fluellen (Stephanie), Christopher Barnes (Brionna),    Rochell Jr. (Tiffany), Stacey, Barzelais Escarment (Meche)   Kenya Powell-Williams, Darryl Whitfield, Charlene Powell, Chasity, and Chad Jr. Thomas, and Melissa Beresford; great-grandchildren: Norajane and Cario Barnes, Keenan Woods Jr., Roshod, Rolaun, Rachel, and Antwane Spain, Gianni  Fluellen Nevach, Maki, and Nayani Minnis, and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends. Predeceased granddaughter, Nicole Spain.
