On April 17, 1947, Veronica Mavis Paul, was born to Walter and Cotilda Paul in Birds Hill, Clarendon, Jamaica, as the last of eleven children and the baby girl. Veronica received her early education at Birds Hill Seventh-day Adventist School then later attended Cross School. Being the youngest girl of mostly sons, Veronica was the apple of her parent's eyes and affectionately called "Gal" or "Galie" and "Aunty G" once she assumed the role of family matriarch. As a young woman she followed the popular Jamaican custom of pursuing dressmaking.

As life should have it in 1963, Veronica's only child, a daughter, Diane was born beginning a new chapter in Veronica's life.  In her quest for a better life for herself and her family she migrated to Canada in the early seventies.  It was difficult to leave her young child behind but she was determined to work long and hard to have her daughter Diane join her in Canada. While in Canada, Veronica worked in hospitality as a baker and cook - one of her many passions.  In March of 1985, she relocated to the USA, Brooklyn, New York where she devoted her time to caring for her newborn grand-nephew, Michael. After a year, Veronica relocated to Miami, Florida to assist a friend with their bakery operations as a baker and chef.

Once in Miami, Veronica's true passion of child care was too strong to deny and she started her own at home nursey business as soon as she moved into her new home. Veronica was passionate about the kids that were entrusted in her care and was affectionally known as "Nana" to hundreds of kids in her care over the many decades. Many of the children she cared for came as babies and stayed with her until they were older where she would even provide after school care. Now as adults, many of "Nana's kids" made time and special trips to visit their "Nana" or send her Christmas and birthday gifts. Veronica, Aunty G, Nana was a very generous, kind, loving, and caring mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother, great-grand mother, grandaunt, and friend.

Veronica had regular medical conditions that plagued the general population she was not acutely ill. On Tuesday November 12, 2024, she departed this life to take her humble rest. She is survived by her daughter Dianne, two grandchildren, Morgan and Sheldon, and four great-grandchildren: Lauren, Ladawn, Hudson, and Ivy, many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, a host of beloved cousins and other relatives and friends around the world.
