Obituary

In honor of Vera E. Durant: December 23, 1929 to August 4, 2015

Proverbs 31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.

There is no doubt, Vera E. Durant, feared and loved the Lord! Her faithfulness to the Lord without a doubt has been rewarded with a peaceful rest in heaven.

She was a devout Christian and Sunday school teacher at Calvary Baptist church where she was a member for 66 years in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She lived in McAlester in her youth but moved to Tulsa in 1954. She is the last survivor of her family of 3 older brothers and an older sister.

She spent her final last years in Miami, Florida, living with her only son, Kelly Durant. Her favorite pastime in her later years was watching Christian TV teaching and praising, the news, Doctor Phil, and Judge Judy.

All her life she remained friendly, generous, and good hearted towards everyone. She read the Bible everyday and upon her passing with heart failure she was listening to the following being read to her by Regina (daughter -in-law).

Psalm 61 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer. 2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. 4 I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.
