HOMEGOING CELEBRATION OF THOMAS MORRIS WRIGHT

On February 12, 1946, God used the late Jannie Williams to provide the world with one of HIS greatest blessings, Thomas Morris Wright. Thomas attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, Class of 1964.

After graduating from high school, he advanced his education by attending Miami Dade Community College, then received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida Memorial College, and a master's degree from Nova University.  While pursuing his master's degree he was employed by Dade County Public Schools as a teacher, then later became a Trust Counselor, at his beloved High School Alma Mater Booker T. Washington. During his 35 years at Booker T. Washington, he was very instrumental in the Theater Department. He became one of the first counselors for the 500 Role Models, (now known as 5000 Role Models) and was instrumental in organizing a crime prevention program.

In 1970, Thomas married the love of his life, Jettie Patterson. During their 56 years together, they shared laughs, tears, trips, but most importantly laid a firm foundation of following Christ. Thomas and Jettie's marriage was blessed with three children and two beautiful grandchildren. Both took pride in rearing their children and grandchildren, by showering them with love, valuable experiences, but most importantly instilling them with the word of GOD.

Despite Thomas' numerous achievements in life, he did not display his degrees on his wall. He did not boast that he was fluent in Creole and Spanish. Thomas used his language skills to diffuse confusion and comfort others. His language and people skills made him successful with his store Variety 79.   He helped, encouraged, and loved everyone. Thomas' true character was revealed through his HEART and his SMILE. He knew the bible, studied the bible, and lived by the bible. Thomas' personality made you want to be a Christian. He saw the POSITIVE in every individual.

Thomas accepted Christ as his personal Savior during his early years. He became a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he remained faithful until God whispered for him to come home. During his time at Mt. Calvary, he was highly active in serving Christ, and was the President of The Atchinson Special.

On November 12, 2022, our God called Thomas to rest in his eternal home. He was preceded in death by his mother: Jannie Williams. He leaves his legacy and beautiful memories to his wife Jettie, his children Rahjell (Myrna), Tanya (Milton), and Omar Wright. Grand-children, Morgan, Joshua, and Promise. Sisters-in law, Fredricka and Lavern, brother-in-law, Sheldon, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
