Obituary

Terence Gabbidon was born to Martha Duffus and James Gabbidon on October 15, 1930 in Queen Hythe, St. Ann, Jamaica.

As a teenager, he moved to Kingston to finish high school after which he entered the working world at the Alcan Aluminum Processing plant and then on to the Bernard Lodge Sugar Estate.

In 1958 he met Hyacinth (Stewart) and they married on June 20, 1959, at Coke Methodist Church. They had two daughters Lauren (Liz) and Gail.

An avid cricket fan, Terence was a longtime member of the Kingston Cricket Club.

Terence continued his career with the Jamaican government from which he retired in 1986 when he migrated to the United States, following his family who had moved there in 1984.

He was an active member of Norland United Methodist Church in Miami Gardens for many years. During his working life in the US, he was a well-known and beloved member of staff at both the Miami Dolphins/ Marlins Stadium as well as the Florida Panthers Arena.
Predeceased by his wife Hyacinth (2006), Terence is survived by his daughters, sisters Beryl (Jamaica) and Charmaine (Boston), cousin Val (Jamaica), grandchildren Kayree, Roger, Adam, Courtney, Kai, Landon and Layton, great-grandchildren, Jade, Kingston and Luci and many friends.

On Friday January 21, 2022, after a long battle with dementia, Terence slipped away peacefully, finally reunited with his beloved Hyacinth.
