Sister Sonya Yvette Burch Wray was born January 1 9, 1967 in St. Augustine, Florida. She and her sister Lynette are the twin daughters of Deacon Preston and Mother Delores Elaine McNeil Burch. She received her early education at Golden Glades Elementary in Opa Locka, Florida, and Parkway Middle School in Carol City, Florida.

As a child, Sonya enjoyed playing board games with her sisters on Sundays and swimming at the local swimming facility in Opa Locka. She was an active member of the St. Monica Catholic Church youth group. She graduated from Hallandale High School in June of 1985. While attending Hallandale High School, she was a member of the Hallandale School Choir. After graduating, she attended Belmont Abbey    College, the Monastery in North Caro1ina. From there she attended Saint Leo University where she obtained a Bachelor of Art Degree in Accounting in 2007.

She worked as an Accounting Controller for several    accounting firms. She was a member and active participant in the National Coalition of 100 Black Women. She was also a part-time consultant for Traci Lynn Fashion Jewelry.

She joined the Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Frazier Arnold, Jr. She participated in the development of the church's (Community Development Corporation) CDC. She became an integral part of the church's Finance M inistry as a financial consultant She was devoted to her service to the work and worked faithfully, even when her health was failing. She exemplified the true spirit of the faithful servant of Christ.

In her lifetime, she traveled to many places including California, Chicago, Detroit, Georgia, Arizona, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., Germany, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Israel, Jerusalem, and Jordan. She  was  baptized  in the  River  Jordon.

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 10:51 p.m. at    Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida, God called Sister Sonya Yvette Burch Wray from labor unto rest. She had fought a good fight, she had finished her course, she had kept the faith." ~II Timothy 4:7~

She was a warm and kind hearted soul, who always put    others first. She was devoted to Christ and her service to the church, her family, and friends. If you knew her on any level consider yourself among t hose who are blessed.

She always greeted you with a smile, even when she was in great pain. She always found something to thank God for. She encouraged others to excel not only in education, but at whatever endeavor they chose, and to always do their best. She was a good listener, and she had a great sense of humor. She brought joy and inspiration to her family and friends.

She leaves behind; three sisters ; Melanie Cumberland of North Miami Beach Florida, Sonja Lynette Burch of Avon Park, Florida, and Erica Burch of Hollywood, Florida; one brother ; Preston Burch II of Texas City, Texas; five aunts ; Christine Burch of Miami Gardens, Florida, Wilhelmena Burch and Ethel Burch both of Tampa, Florida, Deborah E dwards of Friendswood, Te xas and Mother Alberta Wesley Mack of Miami, Florida; three uncles ; Frank Burch of Miami, Florida, James Burch of Georgia, and Robert Burch of Palatka, Florida; one first cousin ; Pastor E . Christopher Washington, Beacon Light Community Church, Panama City, Florida, many other first cousins, six nieces and nephews; three great nieces; two great nephews, one god child; Danny Clark Jr; and a host of other sorrowing relatives, church family colleagues and friends.
