Rubie Lee Wells, was born November 16, 1945 daughter of James and Estelle Cunningham of Louisville, Georgia. When she was just a young girl her family migrated to Dania, Florida where she joined Mt. Zion AME Church under the leadership of Pastor Burroughs.

She was educated in the Broward County School System. She was a graduate of Attucks High School in 1963. She later attended FAMU College but return home and completed her Bachelor's Degree in May of 1970. She later married and gave birth to one child, Troy Wells. She decided to return to school to acquire her Master's Degree from the university of Colorado in June, of 1979. Upon completion she began her career in the Dade County Public School System in which she held various positions.
The position most dear to her was that of being an Academic Counselor. Nothing gave her more joy than seeing our students succeed. She had a unique way of getting them to do what they needed to gain the academic skills to achieve those passing grades. So many of them would have fallen between the cracks if she had not been behind them pushing and encouraging them along the way. Parents of former students and students now adults would see her thank her for everything she did for them when they were in school. She was loved and well known by so many because of her big heart and the care and compassion she showed everyone.

She leaves an empty space in so many hearts. That will now be filled with memories. She leaves to mourn: her son Troy Wells, granddaughter, Ashley Wells, (2) great-grandchildren Gary Moody and Ava Moody, (1) brother Marvin Cunningham, (1) Sister Pearl Grant (Robert Grant), and a host of relative and friends.
