Obituary

Roderick Emmanuel Brooks, "Ricky", "Brooksy", and "Bud" was born on December 25, 1969 to Rupert and Verna Brooks. He was also the first grandchild of  deceased paternal and maternal grandparents, Merle and Allan Bramwell and Altamont and Eudella Gooden. Ricky was thought of as a "special child" due to his Christmas day birth, and was therefore given the middle name, Emmanuel.

Ricky attended Jamaica House Basic School, New Providence Primary School and later matriculated to Jamaica College (J.C) between 1980-1986. JC was also the birth place of an enduring and special brotherhood relationship. Ricky is widely known for his wittiness and sense of humour and although mommy delivered one son, she gained many sons because of Ricky's personality.

After leaving J.C, Ricky was employed to Bank of   Nova   Scotia and later National Commercial Bank, where he excelled in banking.  Ricky demonstrated excellent work ethic, was professional, never late or absent from work. Yes, Ricky established great friendships during his career, one such friendship was with Audrey Chung, with whom he    reunited after almost 2 decades, and subsequently married on May 17, 2019. Ricky loved Audrey and was described as a   loving husband who very domesticated.

After migrating to the United States in 1995, Ricky lived in Queens, New York, Los Angeles California, and      recently settled in Miramar, Florida. Ricky was the doting father of twin boys Jeremiah and Joshua and daughter Drew Camille. Ricky adored his children.  Ricky was pleasant, loving, a peacemaker, empathetic, kind, an    encourager, and willing to go the extra mile for whom ever needed it. It was no surprise, that Ricky responded to the need for a driver, expressed by Christway Baptist Church. Ricky initially volunteered to transport "food kind" to feed families during the pandemic, and continued to serve as a staff member at Christway until his transition to glory.

Ricky was loved dearly by his family, extended family and friends. Although we were physically apart, we were close in heart and spirit, with lots of laughter, during family devotions and prayers.  As a family, one of our motto is, " As for me and my house we will serve the Lord. " Ricky was baptised in 1982, by Rev. William    Edwards at Tarrant Baptist Church in Jamaica. Ricky recommitted his life to the Lord, on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022, and peacefully transitioned this life on Monday, April 18, 2022.

Ricky was an extra special brother, son, husband, father, grandfather, cousin, co-worker, and friend. He is survived by wife, Audrey Chung-Brooks; mother, Verna Brooks; father, Billy Brooks; sister, Michelle Brooks;  unofficially adopted brother, Donovan Wignal; brother Jonathan Brooks; sister Tatianna Murray; sons, Jeremiah and Joshua Walker-Brooks; daughter, Drew Camille Brooks; granddaughters, Kehlani and Neveah, other    relatives, and a host of friends. Our hearts are deeply aching, but while we cry, we do not mourn without hope, for we shall see Ricky again.
