Obituary

Pearl Velma Maragh (née Wilson) passed away peacefully in her home on November 16, 2021. Pearl was born to Clarabell and Ferdinand Wilson in Manchester, Jamaica on March 1, 1937. She attended Bethany Moravian Church School and WYMA School of Practical Nursing where she became a licensed practical nurse April 11, 1956.

Pearl enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, playing dominoes, making Christmas cake and sorell for others to enjoy (reserving herself for sampling only), and spending time with her grands.

Pearl emigrated to Hartford, Connecticut in 1967 and married Cassea Maragh in 1968. In 1973, the family moved to Miami, Florida where she worked as a private duty nurse until retiring in the 80s to care for her ailing parents. Pearl will be fondly remembered by her children: Odeth Hilton (Dr. Elton Hilton), Juliet Maragh, Andrew Maragh, Janice Maragh; nine grandchildren: Lashon, Michele, Robert, Kevin, Jessica, Lancelot Jr., Chelsea, Donovan, Jamari; eight great grandchildren: Ashley, Anthony, Jahvon, Lakayla, London, Josiah, Romario, Jaide; great great grandchild: Shaniya; siblings: Alfred, Margaret (Dr. Looney), John, Radcliffe, Georgette; many nieces and nephews, that she loved dearly, as well as, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Cassea; son, Lancelot Bennett; great grandson, Kelvin McKellar Jr.; siblings Easton, Rupert, Vadnie and her parents: Clarabell and Ferdinand.

Pearl battled with serious medical issues, she soldiered on, never complained, and stayed strong until the end. She was the matriarch, the family's biggest cheerleader and constant supporter, a role that gave her much pride and joy. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn't have her. She was an exceptional person, kind, hilarious, and witty and we will all miss her dearly
