Lois received her formal education in the Miami Dade County Public School System beginning at Homestead Elementary, then Mays Middle School and completing her secondary educative experience at Dillard Senior High School. Sensing the importance of a higher education, Lois matriculated at Miami Dade College where she studied Early Childhood Education. Upon her graduation Lois found significant employment as a Reading and Mathematics Specialist with Miami Dade County Public Schools. She was employed with MDCPS for a glorious 32 years retiring in 1998.
Lois was united in holy matrimony to William "M" Owens Sr. in 1950 who preceded her in death after 52 years of marriage. This union was blessed with seven amazing children.
As an active and faithful Christian, Lois was a member of New Way Fellowship under the spiritual leadership of Bishop Billy and Catherine P. Baskin and later under the Christian tutelage of Pastor Wendell and Cynthia Baskin.
Precious memories will forever linger as we remember Mother's contagious laughter, motivating conversations, uplifting encouragement, witty personality, and stylish shades.
Proceeding her in death one brother Earnest Jenkins, toddler sister Bobbie Ruth Jenkins, one son William "Snug" Owens Jr. and stepdaughter Ruby Jackson.
After a blessed Journey Mother answered God's call moving from time to eternity, there to claim her eternal rest. Survived by one sister Larzetta Jenkins Smith (Florida City, Fl.) Children, Delma Fryer (Artie) Tampa, Fl. Valerie Owens (Artis) Miramar, Fl. Beverly Chothen (Tony) Miami, Fl. Darryl Owens (Cynthia) Lithonia, Ga. Robert Owens of Miramar, Fl and Anita Scott (Marvin) Miami Gardens, Fl. 14 Grandchildren 31 Great Grandchildren and 7 Great Great Grandchildren leaving to mourn a host of relatives and close friends.
