Obituary

Purnel was born on July 22, 1944, to the late Edward and Elluen Pinnock in Friendship District, Hanover Parish, Jamaica.  She was the fourth child of five (5) siblings; Ralph, Frederick, Cedric, Cyndia McQuilkin and Mary Hunter.

She maticulated and graduated from the Pell River Primary School.  At a young age, Purnel began worshipping at the Pell River Presbyterian Church where she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour, and underwent Believers' baptism.

Upon graduation, she immediately enrolled in the Secretarial School in Montego Bay.  After successfully completing her studies, Purnel worked at various firms within the Montego Bay and Hanover Parish areas.

While diligently working, Purnel's beauty was constantly on display, and she was encouraged to enter the Ms. Hanover Farm Queen contest and won the crown at the tender age of 21.

She then migrated to St. Andrew, Kingston where she was employed by the Racing Promotion Head Office as their Administrative Assistant.  Purnel later moved to Garvey Meade, Portmore, St. Catherine and continued her employment at Mead Johnson, a subsidiary of the Johnson & Johnson company.  She became an Executive Secretary while studying at CAST University in the Personnel Management program. Upon her arrival to the Capital, Purnel joined the Portmore United Church where she deepened her love for the Lord.

In 1980, she desired change and migrated to the United States via California.  She eventually ended up settling in South Florida.

Shortly after her arrival, she enrolled and completed a Computer/Word Processing course at Miami Lakes Technical Education Center in order to enhance her skills as an Administrative Assistant.  After a few years in the United States, she entered the complex world of Banking where she rose through the ranks until she was promoted to Bank Officer.  She continued her spiritual growth at Hope of the World Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Angela Fothergill.

On July 13, 1996, Purnel married Rev. Dr. Percy Ransom and became the First Lady of the Cosmopolitan Baptist Church.  She was diligently serving the Cosmopolitan family, when her health began to fail. Realizing she needed more attentive care, Pastor Ransom retired out of active Pastoral ministry to minister to her needs.  After a short respite, they both still desired to spread the word of God; and out of that passion, the end time prophecy ministry, ROLE ( R ansomed O f T he L ord E vangelistic) Ministry was born. As usual, Purnel took great pride and joy in her supportive role of continuing to spread the gospel through this ministry.

On Sunday morning, September 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. "church time", God whispered in Purnel's ear "Come Home, My Daughter and take your rest"!

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving Husband of 25 years, Percy; Children: Andrea Hylton, Selena Burgess, Sherri (TJ) Johnson, Shellie (Willie) Jackson, Shawn (Patricia) Ransom, Steven (Julie) Ransom, Daphney (Keith) Whyms, Natasha Minzie and James Channer; Siblings: Ralph Pinnock, Frederick Pinnock and Cyndia McQuilkin; Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews; her Cosmopolitan Church Family and a host of sorrowing friends.
