Obituary

Min. Levancy Mae Green was born August 13, 1937, in Augusta, Georgia to Clarence and Lula Mae Brown. She came to Miami in 1939 when her mother and father relocated. She attended and  graduated from Dorsey High School in 1955.

In 1954 Levancy met Lester Green Jr. After a brief courtship they were married June 20, 1955, and from this union they had seven sons; she was preceded in death by husband Lester Green Jr., son Lester Green III and 3 brothers and 1 sister.

From early in her youth, she was a member of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. W. K. Smith. She remained a member until she moved to Carol City where she then became a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Carol City, under the leadership of Rev. John C. Cherry. She was a faithful member and served with the Adult Choir and was also the Youth Choir Director. She remained a faithful member and became a minister under the leadership of Pastor Arthur Jackson, III until she returned to Augusta in 2016. Once back in Augusta, she searched out a new church home and found it at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Chavas Boyd until her demise.

Levancy answered the master's call to come home on December 7, 2021, at 9:20 p.m. She will be missed by her family and friends.

She leaves to cherish  her memories her sons: Jerome of Tallahassee, FL, Mark, Ronald, Cornelius, Michael (Arnetris) and Terrance Green of Miami, FL; grandchildren: Terrell, Patrick, Michael, Dominique; great-grands: Ticora, Taylor, Payton and Aamirah; sister: Christine Brown of Wrens, GA; sisters-in-law: Annie Jean Brown of Mt. Dora, FL, Mattie and Nancy Brown of Miami, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and one special cousin Cheryl Ann Gilcrest.
