Marguerite Menelas Seide returned home to eternal rest in the morning light September 30th, 2022. She spent her final days in the loving embrace of her family and friends of whom she encouraged and brought forth joy throughout her memorable life. Those of us graced with the presence of her essence in our lives can without doubt claim that her time on this earth was surely outweighed by the impact she had upon it. Her fierce spirit inspired many to courage, joy, and perseverance. We are honored to have witnessed such an amazing woman.

Though her physical life may have come to an end, Ms. Marguerite's zeal and reverence of life continues on. At the age of 71 she passed away, following an intense battle with varying medical issues, surrounded by her loved ones who are determined to continue her legacy of vigor towards life. She showed strength and grace in her battle with medical  illness this past year, praising the Lord and reading seven Psalms daily despite the agony she must have endured. Ms. Marguerite prevailed, remaining a heroine even now that she has returned to claim her angel wings.

Our treasured Marguerite was born in the town of Port-Margot, Cap-Haiti, Haiti on December 6, 1950, to father Menelus Menelas and mother Femilia Gelin Menelas in their mature years of life. Her only sibling and younger sister Ms. Prudance Menelas Losse was born a few years after. Growing up, Ms. Marguerite earned the nickname Charity, surely after her ever-giving heart. She was raised in an all girls Catholic school curriculum, yet was baptized and became a Baptist church member in 1963.

Shortly after she met the love of her life, Jacques Seide, they got married in 1970 and had five beautiful children together. With her last born who was anticipated as twins however, she lost one of the two children at birth. After her time as a baptist, in 1979, Ms. Marguerite was baptized and converted to Seventh Day Adventism (SDA). Shortly after converting, in 1980, Ms. Marguerite made her way to the US and has since been a member of Zion SDA. With her husband sadly passing away February 2nd, 1984, she worked fervently to support herself and her five children who were still in Haiti until all of them were finally able to settle here in the US and Canada.

The love and grace of Christ called her to become a Deaconess within the church. This position granted her another channel to serve the Lord through service. Her volunteer spirit did not end here however as she followed in her mother's footsteps to shelter, fund, and care for a multitude of orphaned children in Haiti, with no child left naked or hungry. Both she and her dear friend Ms. Patricia would cook, make teas, and go serve the needy in downtown Miami every week. Known as our personal tea lady, she had a remedy for any ailment, even to those some doctors would come up short.

Obtaining her CNA license in the late 90s, she worked tirelessly in many rehabilitation homes. So much so that her children all gathered together with a plan and eventually convinced her to retire from her CNA career in May 2021. Imagine how blessed and proud she was to have seen her children and most of her grandchildren grow up into wonderful young men and women.

A proud CNA, Deaconess, and Seventh Day Adventist, Ms. Marguerite was a phenomenal woman, possessing more qualities of value than one may articulate. She commanded any room she entered with grace, style, and love. Her boisterous spirit inspired so many to be courageous even in the face of fear. The heart that never ceased to give is unbelievable no longer beating. It feels wrong in some ways, that we have lost her so soon, yet those of us who were blessed to know her, have the fullest of opportunities from that chance interaction. She was not only a lighthouse but an anchor to her friends and    family; illuminating what may come through both the calm and the storm, yet keeping us grounded so that we may weather them both.

Thank you Father for calling our cherished Marguerite home to those she has lost peacefully in the presence of her family who she is now survived by. We do not mourn her as she is no longer suffering. We relish those wondrous moments we were blessed to spend with her, until we meet again.

Nieces : Lydie Seide, Lala Seide, Paulin Seide, Siguelle Gelin, Tisha Stubbs, Regina Cadet, Francenise Bien-Aime, Wilna Bien-Aime,  Evelyn Belizaire, Nephews : Bruce Lee Losse, Kervans Losse, Evans Losse, James Kelly Losse, Stevre Losse, Siguimps Gelin, Siguy Gelin, Robert Stubbs, Ferben Bien-Aime.
