Obituary

August 3, 1955, Keith Anthony Hankerson was born to the late Frank and Lucille Hankerson. He was the eldest of four (two brothers and one sister). Keith was a blessing to his parents and siblings. He brought joy and laughter to the household and was a son and brother who could always be depended on. At an early age, Keith accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and was baptized.

Keith matriculated in the Miami-Dade Public School System and graduated from Miami Norland Sr. High School in 1973 where he was member of the track team as a top sprinter. Upon graduating, he attended Miami Dade College receiving his Associates of Arts degree in 1975. He later attended Michigan State University studying Graphic Arts Design. On May 24, 1996, Keith received his Bachelor of Ministry degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.

As a young teenager Keith's first job was at Corky's Restaurant in North Miami Beach.  He was later employed by Publix Warehouse where he worked for over 30 years.  There he worked his way up from an entry level employee and retired in 2011 as a top Manager. After retirement, Keith owned and operated his own business, Graphic Design Unlimited.  Keith always worked diligently and with integrity, earning respect from his peers and the business community.

In keeping with his Christian faith, Keith joined and served at the First Baptist Church of Bunche Park and in 1976 was a founding member of New Way Fellowship Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Billy Baskin. At New Way, Keith was a member of the Young Adult Choir. He loved to sing. After accepting and acknowledging the Lord's call on his life to preach the gospel, Keith was ordained a Minister on July 11, 1993 under his Pastors Bishops Billy and Catherine Baskin. Keith took his call seriously and studied to show himself approved; a workman who needed not be ashamed and he rightly divided the Word of truth. Keith delivered the Word with power, passion and precision. He was an anointed preacher and a man of fervent prayer.

On September 8, 1984, Keith married the love of his life, Patricia King and to their union, one son was born. Keith loved his wife and son and always made them his first priority. He was a family man. He was multifaceted: gifted in painting and drawing, graphic art, playing the bass guitar, singing and an undeniable grill master. He loved his hometown teams, the Miami Dolphins and the Canes. Keith was a generous, kind, and personable man and always was a joy to be around.

On September 24, 2021, after fighting a good fight, Keith finished his course and entered into eternal rest. He will be greatly missed by his devoted wife, Patricia Hankerson; son Keith Hankerson, Jr.; brothers Craig Hankerson, Brian(Tina)Hankerson; sister Traci(Ronald)Spaulding; sister-in-law Lisa Dallas, and a host of nieces and nephews and all those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
