Obituary

Jeraldine Juanita Lewis Solomon was born on November 9,1945 in Ocala (Kendrick), Florida to Lula Mae Lewis (deceased) and Manuel Lewis Sr. (deceased). After she graduated from Fessenden High School, she moved to Miami to further her education at Miami Dade College where she majored in business. After completing her degree, she began to work for Federated Stores in Miami, Florida. She worked for the company for 30 years and retired as the Head Accounts Receivable Manager. When Jeraldine moved to Miami, she continued her spiritual growth by becoming a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, beginning in the late 1960s. She met and fell in love with her future husband of over 34 years, Richard Solomon (deceased). Although they didn't get to enjoy her retirement together, they enjoyed eating southern cooking and traveling to and from Ocala and Georgia his native home.

She had a loving and beautiful spirit that was reflected in her ease at meeting and welcoming strangers. She adored her family and southern upbringing. She was very close to and loved her mother, Lula, whom she missed daily.

Jerry, as she was known by many of her friends, was very proud of her daughter, Dr. Latresia Wilson, an accomplished medical physician and scientist with many professional degrees.

Jerry spent her retirement years traveling and participating in many churches, civic and social activities. In addition to her many endeavors, Jeraldine was committed to raising her niece's child, Samantha Parson. She adored Samantha (Sam) and has raised and equipped her with skills to become an assertive, responsible, and respectful teenager.

Jeraldine was an active member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church; a lifelong member of the International Masons and Eastern Star; a member of the AARP of South Florida (Chapter 5132); a former President of the North County Buccaneer Senior Club, as well as a member of the Buccaneers Boosters Senior Club (former President) and an active member of the UpPac Organization.  Jerry was well known for leading the popular "Solomon's Seniors" group annually on both national and international trips around the United States and Canada.

Family members who preceded her in death: Richard Solomon (husband); Lula Mae Lewis (mother); Manuel Lewis Sr. (father); Manuel Lewis Jr. (brother); Evelyn L. Scott(sister); Marilyn Johnson (sister); and Linda Johnson (niece).
