Herbert
Wallace
Oct 13, 1949 — Sep 19, 2022
Hollywood
In the early morning of September 19, 2022, Herbert John Wallace, our beloved brother, father, and grandfather, peacefully transitioned to the afterlife. Wally, as he was affectionately known, was 72 years old, born on October 13, 1949 to Caroline Wallace in Alpena, Michigan. Wally was an Enlisted Navy Sailor, with 20 years of service. He bravely fought in the Vietnam War and retired as a Boatswain's mate first-class (BM1).
As a youth, Wally enjoyed fishing and hunting in the lakes and forests of Michigan. After retiring from the Navy, he turned his passion for cars into a career as an auto mechanic in San Diego and North Carolina. Despite having rheumatoid arthritis, he would still share his expertise on how to fix automobiles from the sidelines. One of his favorite pastimes was watching classic TV Shows and anything cowboy-related with his little granddaughter Riley (M.A.S.H., The Andy Griffith Show, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Wagon Train, The Rifleman and so forth). Wally also enjoyed sharing his love of country music with his family (Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, and Elvis Presley).
Wally is survived by his daughters, Cameal and Kimberly; son-in-law, Mario; sisters, Janet, Julie, Sally, Rita, Lori, Susie, and Judy, his grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Caroline, sister, Marie, and his son, David.
