Grace was born on September 11, 1923 and was reunited with God her creator on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. She was the oldest child of Wasbert and Lillian Cleland's nine children.

Queen Grace also known as "Trudy" or "Trudas," so nicknamed by a co-worker from Hofius Hardware store in Belize City, was a woman ahead of her times – a true renaissance woman. She drove trucks, rode motorcycles; cycled with her siblings. It was not an unusual occurrence for her to cycle 32 miles from Belize City to her Aunt Mira's farm in Santana.  She not only kept up with her brothers and husband, her cycling skills challenged them. As Dad said, "I had to work hard to keep up with her!" She could swing a hammer and handle a saw like any skilled contractor and in fact built her first home alongside her husband and brothers.  She told us, "I build 24 Wilson Street with my two bare hands!  I went out into the pine ridge and cut down the trees, shaved off the bark and used them as posts for the foundation." She was also a talented seamstress. For many years she made all our clothes as well as dance costumes for us, and other family members and even strangers that needed her help. Mother created functional beautiful products out of items others would discard. She designed and created unique patchwork quilts, placing in several areas special embroidered panels specific to the loved one for whom she was making the quilt. One of her last projects were beautiful quilts she made for the babies affected by the earthquake in Haiti.

Mother lived fully, with dignity and quiet determination; a loyal, awesome wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  When we called her Queen Grace, she would say, "Hmm, if I was a Queen, you would be in trouble!"  We would respond, "You are our Queen, that is why we are in trouble!"  Of course, we were teasing, because there are much better words to describe her. She was prayerful. Our Father, Hail Mary and the Twenty-Third Psalm were prayers we said together every night over the phone, unless she was asleep. It is a routine we shared which we will always treasure. She had a huge heart! She was kind, giving, humble, ingenious, industrious, smart, intelligent and had a great sense of humor. She had quite a way with words and would say things that would make us just burst out laughing! Her strong, fierce independent spirit was demonstrated to the very end. She wanted to let her children and grandchildren know that she loved us. Although she struggled to get the words out, we heard her, "I LOVE ALL OF YOU."  She willed herself to let us know. We will always be grateful they were able to hear that soft whisper that will reverberate as if it was a loud roar. It is now a cherished memory that will stay with us forever.

We are not sure that words can do her justice or capture the grace and essence of the incredible wonderful woman who most influenced and impacted our lives. We are all truly blessed to have called her WIFE AND MOTHER, a powerful word for a powerful yet humble and unassuming woman. "Amazing Grace" is what she was to her family! Grace was our rock!  We will miss her and lovingly hold her in our memories for the rest of our lives.

• Her children: Jennifer Longsworth (spouse Hank Lewis), Louis Longsworth (Spouse Victoria Longsworth), Catherine Longsworth, Josephine Vernon (spouse Marlon Vernon), and Lane Longsworth (spouse Marlo Longsworth).
• Her grandchildren: Robin Longsworth-Pegram, Andrea Longsworth, Erinique Longsworth-West (spouse Corey West), Terence Jones, Ebony Jones, Ryan Vernon, Eryn Vernon, Patrick Vernon; Arthur Robinson, Stephone Robinson (spouse Scherlie); Lily Longsworth and Xavier Longsworth.
• Her great granddaughters: Makela Pegram; Sophia and Sarah Robinson.
• Her nieces and nephews: Glen and Eloica Smith; Irena Smith-Pinkett; Dennis, Richard, David, Nelita, Maureen and Lisa Godfrey; Victor, Gayonne and Gregory Vernon; Celene Cleland-Gomez, Nicoli Cleland-Gil and Deri Cleland-Happ; Eugene, Keith, Bruce and James Cleland.
