Reflection of Life

George Booker Jr., Ed.S., was born on June 3, 1948, in Thomaston, AL. He transitioned on January 4, 2023. He was the first born of nine siblings to the late George Booker, Sr. and the late Ruby Booker. He confessed Christ at an early age at Mount Powell Baptist Church in York, AL. Early in life, George knew he wanted to be an educator. At his home church in Alabama, he was a Sunday School Teacher for several years prior to going to college.

He attended public schools in Alabama. He graduated from high school at the age of 15. He started college at Alabama State University at the age of 16. He became Student Body President during his second year of college. After graduating from college, George taught chemistry for one year at U.S. Jones High School in        Demopolis, AL. While teaching at U.S. Jones, he met the love of his life, Jessie Hudson, with whom he later married in 1971 and moved to Miami, FL to continue his calling in education. They were blessed with two daughters, Rolanda and Kamilah. While in Miami, he began teaching at Thomas Jefferson Middle School where he taught for 33 years. During his tenure, he was a Teacher Recruiter, Union Steward Representative and Teacher Of The Year twice. His degrees of honor include Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree and Educational Specialist Degree. After retiring from Miami Dade County Public Schools, he became a full time    Accountant/Tax Preparer until God called him Home.

One daughter preceded him in death: Rolanda Booker-Clarke. He leaves to cherish his memories: a devoted wife Jessie; a loving daughter Kamilah Booker-Galette (Al) Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Kennedi, Mason, Cason, Chelsey, Noah, AJ and Alijah; sisters: Carmita Booker (Mobile, AL), Barbara Lawrence (Georgia) and Wanda Faye Brown (York, AL); brothers: Isaac Booker (Chesapeake, VA) Kenneth Booker (Rebecca) (Pelham, AL); James Booker (Hollywood, FL). He had two brothers to precede him in death: Lindsey Booker and Anthony Booker. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
