Gary was born on Monday September 23, 1974, to parents Rommel Christian and Valentine Benjamin. He came into this world at the home of his grandmother Mrs. Roxanna Christian in Brandon Hill, Clarendon. Gary spentfirstyears of his life with his mother and maternal grandmother, and visited often with his paternal family,his grandmother, Ms. Norma Benjamin. Gary was adored by all as he was the first grandchild and nephew to his paternal family, and one of the sweetest grandchildren on his mother's side.
From ages of 5-9 years old, Gary lived primarily with his maternal grandmother, while his mother relocated to Kingston in search of better opportunities for him and his new baby sister.the age of 10, Gary joined his mother and sister, Knickeita in Kingston. Shortly thereafter his mother relocated to the United States, again, in an unending pursuit of greener pastures. Gary and his sister were then reared by their aunt, Ozetta Christian, a respected schoolteacher who devoted herself to ensuring that they were properly educated. Gary attended Hope Valley Experimental School and then later earned a scholarship to St. Andrews Technical High School. After his first year, at the age of 14, Gary got his greatest wish, to be reunited with his loving mother in the United States. He and his younger sister migrated to South Florida, where he attended North Miami Beach Senior High School and eventually Broward College.
Gary was always hard working and ambitious. One could say he was a dreamer if they did not know the faith that ordered his steps. At the age of 15, Gary got his first job at Radio Shack in North Miami Beach. However, he had an entrepreneurial spirit that could never be quenched by an ordinary job, so he pursued several business interests, including car dealerships, mortgage brokering, title processing and eventually real estate sales. The most successful of his ventures however, was the one that paid the least but offered the greatest reward, ministry.
Gary accepted the Lord as a child and never looked back. In 1999, he became serious about his faith and made that his greatest priority. He constantly hungered for the things of God and traveled near and far to strengthen his biblical knowledge and receive ministration. In his mid-twenties he became an ordained minister and began his career evangelizing on the streets of South Florida and in prisons. He eventually progressed to pastor small churches throughout the state. Gary believed in the importance of mentorship and sought those who he believed were strongest in their faith. He turned to pastors like Dr. Dk Olukoya, overseer of Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), a full gospel ministry devoted to the revival of apostolic signs, Holy Ghost fireworks and the un-limited demonstration of the power of God, which Gary fully embodied in his own delivery and illustration of the Word of God. He also served under Pastor Samuel Omoigberea of MFM Orlando and Pastor Christopher Graham, of Christ Deliverance Fire Outreach Ministries, two devoted men of God.
In 2000, Gary wed Stacy, the mother of his three children, Samuel, John, and Gabrielle. It was a ceremony that celebrated their love for Christ and each other. Their union lasted for eight years. In January of 2009, Gary married the great love of his life, Janelle Benjamin. The two worked side by side to support their family and were a dynamic duo -overcoming every test with prayer and dedication to God. Their love lasted for the rest of his life. Gary's sunset was on Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Gary is survived by his wife, Janelle Benjamin, children Samuel, John and Gabrielle Benjamin, his mother Rommel Vassell, maternal sister, Knickeita Vassell-Bullock, nine paternal siblings including, Latoya and Craig Benjamin, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones. He is also survived by his former wife, Stacy Benjamin, the mother of his children.
