Fay
Woodburn
Nov 7, 1941 — Dec 12, 2021
Miami Gardens
My mother was born to David and Evelyn Howell on November 7, 1941, in Kingston, Jamaica. She was the 2 nd of five children.
Mommy was very hard working from her youth. She was a teacher, hairdresser and even worked in a t-shirt factory. She had six children: Erroll, Janice, Maxine, Lillieth, Jerome and Mark before migrating to the Bahamas where she had her seventh child me (Patricia). She then moved and settled in Miami where she had her eighth and final child Karen.
Mommy went to school and became a certified nursing assistant. She found employment at Cedars Medical Center where she worked for almost 30 years and received many accolades for her care towards her patients.
Growing up I have so many memories of my mom giving to others. If not financially, she gave her time. She loved cooking and did so for many church events. Pastor Mac would say ". I can taste Sis Fay pork right now" while rubbing his belly. Her home was also open to many, especially children. Mommy loved children and she absolutely loved her grandchildren. They knew grandma would make them laugh. They could convince her to do almost anything. She loved to see them happy. Most of all my mother loved the Lord. She would wake every morning raising her hands in prayer for her family and friends. She has left us all a lifetime of great memories. Life will never be the same without her. But now we all must lean on the Lord for strength to get us through each day. And I know I am speaking for everyone when I say she will always be in our hearts.
