Fannie
Owens
May 7, 1933 — Nov 8, 2022
Miami Gardens
Fannie Daniels Owens was born in Shellman, Georgia, May 7, 1933 to the late Arthur and Pauline Daniels. She was the fourth child of seven children. Two sisters and four brothers, Doris McRoy of Albany, Georgia, Mildred Harvey of Shellman, Georgia and Walter Daniels of Orlando, Florida. Three of her brothers preceded her in death, Cosby Daniels, Frank Daniels and Freddie Daniels.
As a young woman Fannie attended Shellman Vocational School. Fannie later married Wille A. Owens (Skip) and moved to Miami, Florida in 1953. Together, they birthed and raised six children, Vernice Leonard, Patty Owens, Kerry Owens, and Michael Owens. She was preceded in death by two of her children Darry and Peggy Owens. Fannie also was a mother-in-law to Peter Leonard. Fannie worked in the private hospitality sector for many years before her retirement. She was a diligent hard-working woman, who raised and cared for her children with a loving yet strong foundation. Her husband also was a hard worker for FPL providing over 30 years of service. They were great loving providers and role models who worked together as a unit to achieve their family goals.
She was a proud member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church over 50 years, before she became ill and was unable to attend.
Fannie was a strong and stern individual but also had the soft angelic spirit that warmed everyone who knew her. She loved to open her home to friends and family for gatherings, whether it was holiday events, or her weekly Saturday fish fries which were open to whom-ever wanted to come get a plate. Family and friends alike loved to be in her presence because she had a caring, naturing and lively personality and was always willing to help someone in need.
