Errol
Morrison
Apr 7, 1948 — Sep 22, 2021
Pembroke Pines
Errol George Morrison (AKA) Lipton, born to the late Vincent Morrison and Angeletta Gibson, on April 7, 1948, in Troja, St. Catherine, Jamaica. He gave his life to Christ at an early age and he got baptized in May 1998.
Errol attended Whitfield Town Primary School and Spanish Town Primary School. Lipton, as he was affectionately known to his family, was a mischievous child, who knew no fear. During summer recess he would take off all day to go kite flying or skating, with skates he made himself. His beloved grandmother (Mama) always threatened to beat him when he got home, but his cousin (Beverly) always saved him from beatings. Lipton and Bev grew very close (more like brother and sister). Lipton was a very special kid growing up. He would always go to the cigar factory on Spanish Town Road to get wooden boxes and taught himself how to make doll furniture for Bev. When the neighbors would see the furniture he made for her, he would get a lot of orders during the Christmas season. With this practice he became an expert cabinet maker.
Lipton met his loving wife Evelyn also known as Pepsi, during their teenage years. Out of their union they had 3 beautiful children, Errol Jr. AKA (Gregory), Sheryl and Kurtis. During this time Errol began his apprenticeship at a cabinet shop on Tewari Crescent, Kingston, Jamaica. Errol migrated to the US as a cabinet maker in August 1974, and his family joined him the following year. Errol began working in a cabinet shop immediately and also took a job in the City of Miami. Because of his love for carpentry, he soon decided to open his own cabinet shop, which he owned for many years. In July 1989 he lost his oldest son to gun violence in New York City. Shortly after Gregory's death, he decided to become a shop owner and opened Sam's West Indian Grocery, where he gained the moniker "Sam or Uncle Sam". Sam's is a family run business that has become a staple in Miramar. As one of his friends/customers quoted "Sam was always for the people".
Errol (Lipton) (Sam), or whichever name you knew him as, gained his passage into heaven on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at Memorial Hospital Miramar, FL. He is survived by - his loving and devoted wife: Evelyn; Daughter: Sheryl; Son: Kurtis (Valencia), Mother Angeletta in England, Grandchildren: Lynk Jones, Wynter Morrison and Maverick Morrison; Sisters: Beverly Laing (Kenneth); Joy Morrison; Vinette Gibson; Brothers Delroy, Gladstone and Andrew Gibson; Wayne and Darrell Morrison; Special Niece: Alicia Laing Clarke (Philip); Special Nephews: Maurice Laing, Darren Laing and Jason Osbourne and host of family and friends.
