Obituary for Missionary Elma Lee Washington
Missionary Elma Lee Washington was the 2nd child born to the union of the late Leroy and Lillie Bell Daniels, on November 11, 1928, in Pamplico, SC. She completed her early education at George Washington Carver High School in Coconut Grove. After graduation, Elma went to Beauty Culture School to become a licensed beautician. During her entrepreneurship she met and married Walter Gibbons. During the union there were 3 children, 2 daughters, Katheryn McCraw (deceased), Joyce Ann Astwood (deceased), and a son Walter Gibbons Jr. (deceased). Later she married Prophet Washington, and that union produced a daughter, Pamela Washington.
Missionary Washington spent her life being a beacon of light shining for the community, family, and friends. To many she was the epitome of what others envisioned the Almighty to be. Always at the ready to assist her fellow man when needed. During her life she exemplified the essence of a true Christian. Elma attended Faith Temple Community Church of Jesus where she often preached and was the Sunday School teacher as well as the secretary for many years. She was a pillar in the community where she was loved and admired by all.
On January 4th, 2023, Elma quietly went home to be with her Lord and family and friends that have gone on before. She will be dearly missed.
