Elizabeth
Garard
Jul 3, 1952 — Jan 10, 2022
Miami
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Garard was a smart, humble, funny, caring and loving woman who loved to share the Word of God with others. She was a hard-working professional who loved her family and was active in charitable causes throughout the local community.
She was one of six siblings born to Leroy Sr. and Leona Garard. She was the first to graduate from college in her immediate family. She attended Miami-Dade Community College and then earned a Bachelor's degree from Florida International University.
She worked as a teacher's assistant for Miami-Dade County Schools, served others in need working for the Salvation Army and later worked for the State Attorney's Office for almost 30 years. Also, she was a mentor to future generations, serving as a local Girl Scout leader.
Lizzie was an encourager to her siblings, co-workers, friends and to many of her nieces and nephews, preaching the goodness of the Lord and the importance of getting a good education. Her meekness was her greatest strength. Lizzie possessed the rare gift of a kindhearted soul in an unsettling world. Lizzie's diligence and work ethic was a noble trait of her proud Bahamian ancestry.
Elizabeth "Lizzie" Garard is pre-deceased by her parents, Leroy Sr. and Leona Garard, her older sister, Margaret Rose Allen, brother-in-law Richard Allen, and a younger brother Barry Garard.
She is survived by siblings, Carolyn Garard, Leroy Jr. Garard, and David Garard(Gloria), niece Roslyn (Jerome), nephew Marek(Ana) nieces and nephews: Termica, David Jr., Diana, Deanna, Daitrine, Dekela, Diamond, Katie, Evanlyn, Leroy III, Tania; Cheryl and Cynthia Allen; grandnephew Calvin B. Edwards (Crystal) great grand nephew Camden; grand nieces and nephews: Marek Jr., Justin, Branden, Talyah, Amarri, Journi and Imani Isles and a host of other great grand nieces and nephews; as well as family members that reside in Nassau, Bahamas, New York and California.
May the Lord's eternal light shine through her memory as we celebrate her life and her homegoing.
