The Life of Eleanor Ruth Williams Scott

The life of Eleanor Ruth Williams Scott began on August 6, 1947 in Dixie (Brooks County) Georgia. She was the oldest of five siblings bornto the late Mitchell Williams and Spelma Ruth Royal Williams. One sibling preceded her in death (Brenda Williams James), Eleanor's husband Clarence Scott Jr. and her son Terrence Scott also preceded her in death.

The Williams family left South Georgia when Eleanor was young, relocating to the North for her Dad to find better opportunities in Detroit Michigan.  After a short stay in the cold climate, the family relocated back South to the City of Opa-Locka, FL. to join the rest of the family.

Eleanor was nurtured in a loving Christian family home. She was taught the love of Jesus Christ by her mother at an early age. She was baptized and joined the family Church of Greater New Bethel Baptist Church of Opa- Locka.

As Eleanor began her early education, she attended Bunche Park Elementary School then Rainbow Park Elementary School. Her secondary education began at North Dade Jr. Sr. High School, while there she was good in her academics, but sports was her love, she was the statistician for the school track team and any other team that needed her statistics. She loved working with Coach Daniels, and she played girls basketball and baseball. Eleanor graduated in the last Senior Class of North Dade High School in 1966.

Several years after graduation, she was united in marriage with her High School Sweetheart, Clarence Scott Jr. They were married for 44 years before his death. To that union three children were born. Eleanor was a loving and giving woman to all that knew her, especially in her neighborhood. She was a school mom in the Myrtle Grove Community, some times taking kids to school or picking them up along with her own children. The children always called her Mama Scott, even until this day, and they are adults. She had several jobs in the workforce, but working with the neighborhood children was her calling because she started to work as a Paraprofessional in the Miami Dade County Public School System, working at Golden Glades Elementary then Parkway Middle where she later retired after 20 years of service in her tenure.

Eleanor loved the Lord and his people and was committed to his service after uniting with "Jesus People Ministries International" in 1986. She served and lived her stewardship in the ministry for 38 years. Her commitment in ministry called for her elevation to Deaconess. She worked in helping those who were in need in her home, ministry, and community. She worked diligently until her health declined over a period of time, then she was called home to enter into her eternal rest. Even through her many trials and tests, she remained steadfast in her faith in the Word of God. Her strength in the Lord sustained her in every season.

Eleanor leaves to cherish fond memories of her life. Daughters: Tekara Jenkins ( Dr. Peter Jenkins) Tomeka Bryant, Son: Wilbert Jackson, Grandson: Terrance Davis, Sisters: Carolyn Perry, Pamela Simmons ( Elliott Simmons) Brother: Mitchell Williams. Aunt: Lula Griffin, Uncle: Bennett Royal (Carolyn Royal) 10 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren, A host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Jesus People Ministries family, 1966 Classmates of NDJSHS, other Friends and Acquaintances.
