OBITUARY

Elder Willie Seabrooks, Jr was born in Screvens County, GA to Ophelia and Willie Seabrooks, Sr. on July 14, 1940. Willie heard the call of God for him to report to his eternal home  at 8:40 am on Wednesday morning, May 21, 2025. He had been waiting for that call since his diagnosis in 2015.  He wanted to go so much that he stopped eating in 2015 after Jinnester Jackson, his dear cousin, passed away.  His early education was completed in Sylvania, GA , He studied several trades and supervisory courses with Miami-Dade County and later attended City College in San Francisco, CA.in 1982.

Elder Seabrooks was called to Hollywood, FL to pastor Dukes Temple Church of God in Christ in 1986 where he served faithfully for 13 years until the Lord sent him to Opa Locka to assist Pastor Juanita Mincey, a close friend, as pastor of the Christ Crusade Family Center which he served from 1999 to 2018.  He retired due to his failing health.

Reverend Seabrooks came to Miami in 1959 at the invitation of his special cousins, Jinnester Jakson, (who sent him the bus ticket to come) and Dec. Lenwood Cooper and Mother Annie Cooper.  He lived with them, worked and gave his life to the Lord during that time.  All of them have preceded him in death.  He served in the New Gamble Memorial Church of God in Christ, was ordained as Minister in 1961 and then Elder in in 1964.  He met and married Patricia Ann Johnson in November 10, 1963.  To that union they raised two daughters, Mia Carenya and Patricia Annette. From the two daughters, they have 5 grandchildren, Jordan, (the only grandson who  lives with them) granddaughters, Bria, Carianne, Brianne and Brinnae, one great granddaughter, A'nae, 3 years old. He has been a loving godfather to many; Brianna Robinson is the first one to call him "PaPa" because she could not say god- grandpa, and all of the grands followed along calling him PaPa.. Other special god children include Rev Wilbur Harbin, Andrea Hobbs McCollum, Glendon Robinson, Deborah Perry and others who I may have forgotten, or they are no longer here. The Barthell children were not consecrated as god children, but he and they loved each other as such.

Elder Seabrooks leaves to mourn him his wife of 61 years, Dr. Patricia A Seabrooks, his  children, Mia, Patti and Jordan and the children of his brothers who preceded him in death, the Cutters, Elease, Melvin, Jr, Rev Rodney, Dosier and Tyrone from Savannah, GA and the Seabrooks' from Sylvania, GA. Also mourning him are two of his favorite nieces, Janice Blount who helped to care for him for the 10 years of his illness and Erica Carter who worshiped with him as the Musician at Dukes Temple and Christ Crusade Family Center and many others who called him friend, brother or colleague. Also Members of AFSCME, Chapter 9990.
