On August 26,1930, in the High Mountain district of St.   Catherine Jamaica, West Indies, Arnold Grant and Hilda Beckford were blessed with the birth of a bouncing baby girl, Deltora.  She was the first of 10 children for Hilda.  She attended the Watson Basic School and Tulloch All Age school.  She then pursued the fine arts of dress making and cooking, at Princess Field Community Center. After completing her course, she was gainfully employed in those fields.

She met Eric Ricketts and after a few years the union produce one child, Elaine.  Deltora had to make the hard choice, after four years, in leaving Elaine in the care of her grandparents in search of better employment opportunities.

Deltora migrated for work in rural St. Catherine, where she met and fell in love with the handsome Wilbert Walker affectionately known as Breezy. This union produced three children,     Desma, Fitzgerald AKA Fitzy and Gyle AKA Fay. They moved to their forever home in Braeton St. Catherine where they were blessed with two more children, Carl AKA Kah Kah and Lilla Mae AKA Lilla.  The decision was made for Deltora to work at home taking care of her lovely children and her heartbeat, Breezy.

The union was officially joined in marriage, and she became an active member of the Braeton New Testament Church of God.

Years later, she was diagnosed with arthritis which caused her to rely on a walker to move around. But that never stopped her from taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren.  Sadly, in August of 1992 her husband passed away. Years later after his passing, she resided with her daughter fay in the Bridgeport community of St. Catherine. She then travelled to various countries with her daughter, visiting family members.

In 2009 she permanently migrated to the US where she reunited with her children.  Still a strong woman of faith, she became a member of the Grace United church.

During her later years, her health began to decline, facing complicated illnesses. She fought a gallant battle where she     survived major surgery as well as 2 broken legs.

Sister Dell, Sta Dell, Dellaque as she was affectionately called was a dedicated child of God.  She prayed without ceasing and would call every family member name and leave them at the foot of the cross.

She loved her family members dearly especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to all who she encountered.
