Deacon Israel Taylor was born on September 16, 1938 in Attapulgus, Georgia to the late Willie and Essie Mae Taylor.  While growing up, Israel affectionately known as "Jimmy", had an incredibly loving childhood.  He was the baby boy of 13 siblings, all who preceded him in death.

Israel received his education from Lincoln Park Academy in Ft. Pierce, FL, where he also played on the baseball team.  This would go on to shape his life as an adult.

Israel confessed to the Lord at an early age, as the family joined little St. John M.B. Church on Avenue E.  His family was a part of the building structure of the first St. Mark where his mother Essie became the Mother of the Church.

In 1957, Israel decided to follow in his older brothers Willie and Spencer's footsteps and relocate to Miami, Florida.  He immediately started working for Jefferson's Furniture Store as a truck driver.  He later went on to work for Florida Beverage and lastly retiring from the Southern Wine Company.

After settling into Miami, his love for the game of baseball remained a constant fire and desire so he started a baseball team in the backfield of his house called "Streakers" which he later renamed to "Taylor and the Gang".  One day while at the park, he saw a beautiful, light-skinned, red-boned woman but she was surrounded by (what he would later learn) her sisters.  Israel pursued this beautiful woman, Mary, but he soon realized that she wasn't an easy catch.  Israel a.k.a. Jimmy, thought because he was this handsome baseball player that "Red" would be impressed.  But she wasn't!  She gave him a run for his money as they would say.  By then Israel knew she was different-a special kind of woman, so he pursued her even more.  After a few years of dating Jimmy said that Mary gave him an ultimatum.  The very next week, on June 27, 1970 that ultimatum led to 51 years of marriage.  From that point on they were inseparable-they traveled the world together.

On July 20, 2021 at 7:15 am the Lord knew that after calling his wife home, Israel-although he deeply loved his family-could not live without the love of his life Mary, so he made him an offer he could not refuse, and Israel was called to join his wife in eternal rest.

He leaves to cherish his life, love and legacy 8 children whom he loved dearly: Samuel, Israel Jr, Patricia, Eddie (Liz), Kimberly (Robert), Connie (Noah), Kim Rosalyn, and his baby girl Bridget; 11 grandchildren: Damien (Shan), D'Armon (Erin), his "Jive-Turkey" Ya'Nette (Maurice), Andre, Eddie Jr, Tatiana "Smiley", La'Vonte, Jasmyne, Kameron, Kyle, and his "B.A.P.S." Kymbriana; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 sister-in-laws: Betty Ann Thomas, Linda F. Royster, and Wanda Gause; brother-in-law, George Stanley; a special son-in-law: Horace Parker, Jr; a special Godson: Willie Flowers (LaShawn); Godson: Joel L. Ramsey; 2 Goddaughters: Aiesha Ferguson-Thompkins and Virginia Flowers; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other sorrowing relatives and many friends.
