Deacon Achie Williams was born on November 15, 1935 to the late Solomon and Cornelia Williams in Allendale, South Carolina. He was educated in the Allendale County School System. Achie met the love of his life Rosa Mae Williams and shortly after, they were married on March 10, 1956. Soon after marriage, they relocated to Miami, FL where they started their family. To this union two children were born, Arthur and the late Shirley Williams. The Williams' lived in Miami for more than 50 years before relocating to Winter Haven, FL 15 years ago. After Rosa's death, he moved back to Miami in 2021 to be closer to his family.
Achie accepted Christ at an early age. He was baptized on March 17, 1946, in a creek in rural Allendale, SC. He served faithfully in many capacities including an Usher, Trustee and Chairman of the Deacon's Ministry at both his home church in Miami, Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and at First Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Haven, FL attending regularly until his health began to fail.
Deacon Williams retired from Velda Farms where he worked for over three decades. After retirement, he became an independent trucking contractor for several years. He eventually retired and focused his attention on caring for his ailing wife.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon Williams and Corneila (James) Hall, his wife Rosa Mae, daughter Shirley and siblings Cora Williams and Willie James Hall.
Deacon Williams leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted son Arthur Sr. (Rita), Miami, FL and daughter Sara (Anthony) Holmes, Locust Grove, GA; one sister Mattie L. Dopson, New Ellenton, SC; five step-sisters Ruby Hall, Frances H. Tillman, Eva Marie Gordon, Flossie Hall and Sarah Harper; one sister-in-law Geneva (Raymond) Ray, West Palm Beach, FL; nine grandchildren : LaKeisha, Tameka, Brittany, Arthur Jr., Bryan, and Brandon Sr. Williams, Tarnesha (Robert) Rachel, Shakeyia and Anthony J. Holmes; seven great-grand-children : Arthur III (AJ), Brandon Jr. (BJ), Ayunna, Herrod, Herbert III (Pokey), Jewel, Harmony and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.
On Saturday, January 29th, God called his faithful servant home. "The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" Psalms 34:18
