Obituary

C yslin Phyllis Elliott was born in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica on August 19, 1942, to Emerine Gordon and Nebert Elliott.

Cyslin was commonly known as Phyllis to all her family and friends. Growing up she attended All Side Primary School in Bull Savanna, Jamaica.

She left for England as a young child and was raised in Kennington, London. During that time, she was surrounded by her extended family, namely Aunt Laura Lindsay and Aunt Hazel Senior.

In 1958 she met her husband Rupert Lewis, they were married in St. Mary's Church in Lewisham and went on to have 3 children: Elizabeth, Cheryl, and Robert.

Phyllis worked as a nurse in Lewisham Hospital and loved to sew in her spare time. Together with Rupert they raised their family in Malyons Road in Lewisham, including Zoey the cat.

In 1986 Phyllis moved to Miami, Florida where she became a Private Duty Nurse. She loved the Florida Malls and going to the beach with her family.

On January 6, 2022, she lost her 3-year battle with    Alzheimer's and died peacefully at home surrounded by all her family. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren: Stacey, Emanual, Lewis, Mathew, and One Great Grandson – Xander.

Phyllis was a true Mother Teresa; she would give her last penny to the needy and cook enough food to feed the whole street. We all have happy memories of her, and she will be truly missed.
