Charlie Lee Campbell, affectionately known as "Hammer" was born to the late Abe and Mattie Bell Campbell on March 17, 1942 in Riceboro, Georgia.  He loved music with his favorite singer being 'Joe Simon'.  He also loved the 'Miami Heat'. He attended Riceboro Elementary and Liberty County High School.  Although he had little education, he was a hard worker since the age of 13.

Later in his life he moved to Miami, Florida in 1965 where he started his career in the construction industry, which spanned over four decades. Hammer had a hand in building everything from single family homes to skyscrapers throughout the Tri-County area. He loved his trade and trained numerous friends and relatives in the field over the years. He is dubbed "the man who built Miami".

He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Sandra Marie Campbell; five children: Charlie Campbell, Jr. (Falisier), Darrell Campbell, Sr. (Carla), Andrea Young (Draydon), Matilya Daniels and Lenwood Daniels; seventeen grand-children: Jamaal Campbell, Santell Anderson, Alicia Forbes, Lazandria Williams, Darrell Campbell, Jr., Maurice Reed, Alicia Reed, Kanetra Campbell, Elliott Reed, Cleavon Kemp, Jarius Godfrey, Jakari Godfrey, Shandel Kemp, Quantavious Young, Keona Flowers, Clarence Kemp and Terriss Sellers; three sisters: Louise Stacy, Catherine Campbell-Shuman and Mary Brown; one brother-in-law, Willie Moten; twenty-nine great-grand-children and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding him in death were his two brothers; Frank and Abe, Jr. and four sisters; Lucille, Alice, Sadie and Carrie Mae.
