Charles Ignatius Cato, 73, of Miami, Florida beloved husband for 35 years to Letha Mae (Bonds) Cato transitioned peacefully on Tuesday, January 2, 2023.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica on February 14, 1949 to the late Cecil and Victoria (Allen) Cato. He was raised in Kingston, Jamaica the youngest of 11 children until immigrating to the United States in 1964. Charles later attended Weaver High School in Hartford, Connecticut. Where he became a star soccer player. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Forces Reserve from May 1969 to May 197. He was stationed at Camp Le Jeune where his performed duty title was Anti-Tank Assault man. While serving his country he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

After leaving the Marine Corps he became an Architect that oversaw the construction layout for so many amazing projects throughout the state of Connecticut and Florida. The most important job he had was being the rock and solid foundation for his family. He LOVED his family!!! If anybody ever needed anything we could always depend on daddy or Pop-Pop. He wasn't rich but he worked very hard to provide and always had a solution. If he couldn't buy it, he could build it or fix it. And if he couldn't do it, he knew someone that could. He helped everyone and gave to everyone… from the stray cats outside; to anyone in need of a job or side gigs, he would find a way to help anyway he could.

Besides his loving wife Letha Cato, he leaves to mourn his passing, five daughters, Tanya S (Cato) Tunsil and husband Michael Tunsil in Florida, Chanda Cato in Hartford, Alisa Cato, Christina Cato, Victoria Cato all in Florida; eight grandchildren, Chelsey Lynn, John Lynn, Mya Johnson all in Florida, Chamia Murray of Maryland, Channon Anderson in Hartford, Sharon Tunsil in Florida, Arianna De La Rosa, Prince-Mackey Baptiste in Florida; five great grandchildren: John Lynn III, Jordan Lynn, Akeela Lynn, Noah Lewis and Aaliyah Lewis all in Florida; three sisters: Una Thomas of California, Jean Sun and her husband Edward Sun in Florida, and Joan Breakenridge in Connecticut; a brother-in-law Daniel Walker in Kingston, Jamaica; and plenty of nieces and nephews relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his three brothers: Ernest Cato, Newton Cato, and Eaton Cato; four sisters: Norma Walker, Hazel Cato, Gloria Cato, and Claire Hope.
