Bishop Rupert Lloyd Christie was born Monday, November 13,1936 in Chatham, St. James Jamaica to Hubert and Concelena Christie. He attended Goodwill All-Age School in the neighboring town of Goodwill.
After school he matriculated to McGhie's Industrial Works in Montego Bay, Jamaica where he became an apprentice, developed into a master welder, received his certification and practiced his skill from 1954 to1968 until immigrating to the United States.

While in Montego Bay, he worshipped at Water Lane New Testament Church of God and involved himself in every aspect of the church: Youth Leader, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon to name a few.

On February 3rd, 1963, he married Everette Eulalee Christie, nee Richardson, a few years later the couple were blessed with a daughter Althea (Grace). In 1968, Sister Christie and Althea immigrated to the United States of America to join their husband and father, who three months earlier had      accepted a job offer in Miami, Florida. Brother Christie traveled ahead of them to prepare the way and to secure housing for his family. Later, in 1971, the couple added to their family. Angela was born.

After a couple years Brother Christie resigned from the job contract he had received and branched off on his own by starting Chris Welding Service where he would secure his own contracts and work for himself. Together they would own Chris Welding Service for more than 30 years. Simultaneously, Sister Christie studied and moved up the ranks from nursing assistant to LPN to finally RN.  The couple also began a secondary business which still thrives today.

While building a life in Miami, Brother Christie located the nearest Church of God and became a faithful member. The family joined Liberty City Church of God under the leadership of Bishop    Walter D. Jackson. While there, he immersed himself in working for the Lord, by driving the church bus, teaching Sunday School, working with the youth and again being a deacon. After the passing of Bishop Jackson in 1982, Deacon Christie by that time, held the church until the appointment of    Bishop Johnthan Ramsey, Sr.

At this point Bishop Wallace J. Sibley, then Sate Overseer of Florida, encouraged him to apply for the Exalter's Certificate which he earned in March,1983. Deacon Christie enrolled in Florida Bible Institute under the leadership of Bishop James Campbell. He completed his studies and graduated. In   July of 1983, he then enrolled in the Ministerial Internship Program. After completion, he was sent to Hollywood, Florida, by Bishop Sibley, to plant a church. Which he did.

At that time, the church started out as a store front with his family as the congregation. As membership increased the location changed. The church proceeded to purchase an old house and reconstruct it into its current form and location 5848 West Hallandale Blvd.

He then went on to receive his Certificate of Ordination in February of 1987 and Ordained Bishop Certificate in July 2000. After many years of working for the Lord, Pastor Christie was appointed Overseer of the South-Broward District in January 2005 by Bishop Chenault, a job which continued until his passing.

He is survived by daughters Althea and Angela Christie, grandchildren Lauryn Christie-Broughton and Myles Christie, sisters Hazel Christie and Zeporah Christie Johnson, Nephew/son Dave Christie, Godson Wayne Dehaney, Goddaughter Veronica Clarke, and a host of other nephews, nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, cousins and neighbors and friends.
